anniversary

Don't read my boring post, watch Sendhil with a sledgehammer instead!

March marks the one-year anniversary for me and Heroes fandom, so I went and deleted a couple of my fics that I hated. I also wanted to delete some of the RPS ones, but there are so few of them around (unlike S/M) that I couldn't bring myself to do it. Oh woe!

I complain about fandom every other day, but honestly? It's been fun. I think this is the first time I've been somewhat active in a fandom that was this large and this alive, really! I usually just lurk or get into fandoms with, like ... 50 active people in them, max. It's been interesting, and I can't even imagine what I'd be doing with fandom these days if Ela hadn't written in her reaction post to 1x17 that she had started to find old men attractive and blamed me for it, thus making me curious about what nice old men this show must feature. Turns out I end up falling for the ones around 30, but hey, that's life.

I think Heroes fandom is also making me realize that I've sure grown old up and changed since I first met fandom. Mohinder is the sort of righteous character that might have annoyed me back when I was a teen, while I find him just so hot and adorable and strong now.¹ And the whole Sendhil thing, with the kid and the wife making him just even more appealing to me? Yeeeeah, not something I'd have imagined getting into in the past. Not to mention I like het more and more the older I become. It's interesting how tastes change. It's great!

1. I've been thinking about what I could liken this to, and I think it might be like preferring Eiji over Ash in Banana Fish or preferring Serge over Gilbert in Kaze to ki no uta or preferring Sensui over Itsuki in Yu Yu Hakusho (except those guys are both nuts). But all of those are vaguely obscure so it might not illustrate my point very well.

Also, Violent? Heroes slash thread, finally! Needs moar posts.

Ooh, I like Sendhil with a hammer, but - is his hair shorter? This is alarming!

Honestly, I love this fandom. It definitely has its creepy bits, but it can be so ridiculous and so full of crack that I have to forgive it its flaws. And congratulations on the anniversary! You should take fandom out to celebrate.

As for nice old men - well, there's always Bob. And Chandra.

Maybe it's you; or maybe it's that Mohinder is simply that awesome. (I still don't understand why he doesn't have fandom-wide approval. How??)

Ela:

It was 1x18 - McMalcolm *g*

Alicia:

That's what I thought of his hair during the last hiatus, too, but I think it's unavoidable -- Sendhil hates his hair and his wife doesn't like the stubbles. I got used to it since and now I think he looks good with pretty much any hair on his face and head. ♥

(Okay, I lie. Adam? Just no.)

The over-the-top crazy and crack are definitely a plus. It's the regular, day-to-day bashing of characters and show creators that I can't stand, even though I don't actually think Maya is a perfect character or Tim Kring a very good writer at all, either. :P Moar crazy wank!!!

I think Ela was referring to Linderman when she mentioned hot old men. I gotta say I agree with her; that was ONE HOT OLD MAN THAR. I adore Bob but Bob's both too young and not hot. They need to cast someone as equally sexually potent as McDowell in season three. And have him meet up with Mo. Just because. I don't have an old guy/Mo fetish, no sir.

And you're right, Mohinder simply IS awesome. It's not just me. It's everyone else having bad taste. HAH!

I disapprove of singling out one of the less-than-stellar characters while still praisingothers to high heaven!
And while Tim Kring surely isn't a genius, but fanfic writers especially need to realize that they aren't geniuses, either. :D

And how's Tim Kring ever going to develop if his fans lie to him about Peter and Nathan and Adam being the most awesome characters, when the best-written one is CLEARLY Mohinder? Stop confusing poor Tim.

Georgia:

So who does Japan ship so far? 8D

WHY YOU NEVER

Stop confusing poor Tim.

Bwahaha. XD That gave me the image of a weeping six-year-old. Timmy should grow up and learn that yes, he makes mistakes, but giving into peer pressure isn't the smartest thing all the time, either!

By which I mean he should only listen to me and make poor Joe Pokaski write the entire season.

Usual suspects, sadly. Most ly Petrellicest with Hiro/Ando and a tiny bit of Mylar, but probably only because I brought it up. D8 Damn you, Japan, and your obsession with brothercest.

I demand a cute cartoon with this heart-warming message. Then we send it to Mr. Kring.

Alicia:

That would be quite awesome. :O

Who draws?
