• I've been thinking of making an RPS-related post here for the last few days, then thinking there were too many of them in a row and weren't I annoying people with them, anyway? See, this is the kind of self-consciousness that haunts me and drove me to make that "imma gonna talk about rps nao" declaration, but apparently I'm not over it yet. Boo. I'll talk about how ZQ is totally a dom soon.
• I've been re-reading Tokimeki Tonight slowly for the last week (I only just finished volume two, that's how slowly), and I might do a gigantic "this is my childhood!!!!" post about it when I get to volume 18, but I might also not. I ship het very very hard in this (I usually don't -- can't -- ship m/m in shojo manga), but I noticed reading it this time that I'd probably ship Mouri (the protagonist's father) with any male or female in the series if there were a fandom. He's too hot, especially personality-wise. He's probably the only vampire I ever liked or ever will like.
• I also read up on a Jump series, Sket Dance. It's actually pretty good. I like it better than Gintama because that one quickly got into the more or less serious multi-chapter arcs that didn't do much for me, but on the other hand, Sket Dance also seems to be heading in that direction now. Shame. Can no Jump comedy (except Jaguar-san) really keep to the comedy? Still, I recommend chapter four and seven a lot for the lulz. If only he'd stop writing about the student council, because those dudes are boring just like the Gintama Shinsengumi (will fangirls come to kill me now?).
• The line is blurring lately, but I think in fandom there's a general split between fractions based on medium. Manga fans don't often fangirl or fanboy US TV shows, and the like. And when people move fandoms cross-medium (which does happen, I think more often than I initially expect), I usually notice that the new medium becomes the primary sauce of fan squeeage for these people, meaning if you're in Prince of Tennis fandom your secondary squeeage probably doesn't happen over Supernatural but rather over a related manga or anime. Not that people can't like many things across a vide variety of mediums, but people seem to stick to one medium at a time. Except, hmm, things like manga/anime/games or j-rock/dorama which tend to stick together for people. Or that's my experience anyway, though I do know exceptions. I wonder if it's a peer-pressure thing, where no one in your fandom will squee with you if you fangirl something outside of the medium, so it's a self-enforcing tendency. (It doesn't matter much for me, since even if I were in manga fandom -- which I have been in the past -- rarely anyone outside of Japan knows half the manga I squee about anyway. And my tastes are mainstream, guys.) Hmm!

I'm thinking of making a Japanese site for the propaganda of Sylar/Mohinder (and Z/S a bit, too).

Problem: in Japan, "who tops and who bottoms" is SRS BZNS, and I feel I can't make a site without clearly defining who does what. Theoretically, I could just say that I don't care who does what (which is the truth), but then I'll be alienating 98% of my potential audience. I could also theoretically say that none of them do any of it, because the site isn't about porn but rather the two as they appear in the canon, but then most of my audience would probably be highly suspicious and run from the site the first time I even vaguely reference sex without clearly defining who does what.

Yeah. Japanese people are odd. And no, I'm honestly not exaggerating.

I thought I could live with just saying I support Sylar x Mohinder (meaning Sylar tops), since the only way S/M will ever get anywhere is probably if Sylar pushes Mohinder to the floor and has his way with him (i.e. it's highly unlikely that Mohinder will ever push Sylar to the floor and do stuff, seeing as Mohinder hates Sylar), but that would mean I had to deny Mohinder topping Sylar as Zane, or Mohinder topping Sylar in a fit of rage, or Mohinder topping the president, and I don't want to deny any of those things (they're hot).

As for Z/S, that's just even more complicated. I think ZQ is probably basically a top, but that doesn't mean they don't constantly switch in my head, and if I claim to be shipping Z x S or S x Z, I'd be lying. And even if I don't intend to write smut about them in Japanese (speaking of which, I should write Masi/Sendhil in Japanese sometime...), I don't trust myself to talk about any of their interviews or the commentary or any pic of them together and just stick to one top and one bottom.

I don't think I'll ever get to make that site. Woe.

Side-note: what do you guys prefer when you read or write fic? I mean I know most people outside of Japan don't have militant preferences, but anything you think is hotter than the other?

A blog post informs me that Sendhil has a bit part in Broken Lizard's the Slammin' Salmon planned for a US release in 2008. I have no idea who Broken Lizard is, but it sounds like a comedy and it stars Michael Clarke Duncan. They have a MySpace where you might be able to find more pics (I can't; I don't have a MySpace so they won't let me check their album), but there is one pic of him at the bottom of the blog post. He's wearing a pink shirt. Mmm.

The blog entry also has this quote about him:

We all know Sendhil is more delicious than pie, but he has a cousin ... named Jay? Interesting! Also, this does imply that Sendhil eats pie in this movie, right? Yay! I've wanted a Mohinder eating scene for forever! Though seven pieces of pie makes me think of Sendhil as Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks. Which cracks me up.

1. Ever since I saw the fandomsecrets about muslim girls who were in fandom and/or were yaoi fangirls, whenever muslim girls come into the shop, I think they're total fangirls and/or yaoi fans, and it makes me giggle. (Because I sell things like pocky and ramune which are popular with otaku, see.) It's great, but they might get offended if they knew what I'm giggling about.
2. My boss told me today that I work hard. I don't think I do, really, but I do think I'm competent, and there was this surge in me and I think I needed to hear that. I haven't, in months. Yeah. It was nice.
3. I continue to adore my class mates, and I promise now to get a cell phone some time in the future so they don't have to come by my workplace just to find me. Except I'd like to buy a new digital camera first. A red one.

I, by nature, am a maker of lists, and nothing makes me happier than adding new entries to growing lists.

I've been watching Psych season one these past few days, wondering when it'd morph into the awesome hilariousness that season two is, and it seems to have happened at episode ten. Lassiter is becoming human and starting to prove he's a competent detective, instead of being a stupid jerk for Shawn to make fun of, Jules has better hair, and Gus is becoming more competent, too. See, it's exactly this kind of un-Gary Stu-ing of Shawn this show has been needing. Excellent.

ETA: Lassie is totally a moe character, episode 11 proves it. I never understood Shawn/Lassie, but I totally see it now. He's adorable. However, "Shassy" is not a becoming name for a pairing. Ever. It's worse than Mylar.

ETA2: Oh wow. Oh geez. By episode 12 I'm thinking Shawn/Lassiter makes perfect sense, and by 13, I'm thinking Lassiter is the cutest thing ever. I don't ship it, though. Shawn isn't really a match for Lassie (neither is he for Gus or Jules, come to think of it. Not that I I don't like Shawn, but still). Which leaves me with no one to ship him with. I guess that saves me from joining this fandom. Phew! He really is adorable, though. I want to read fic where he ukes to everyone.

In that Psych episode about the comic con guest starring George Takei, there was a running joke about something that happened to Takei at a con in San Antonio. Every time the town was mentioned I was, of course, reminded of Sendhil, which was quite distracting and must have left an impression on me, because ... I don't remember it clearly, but I think I had a dream this morning about Sendhil and repeat mentions of San Antonio. I think it may have been something about him pretending to be totally Indian for some odd purpose (comedy?), and every time he did it, Zach would smack him and say, "You're from San Antonio!"

That would be a funny fic. I desire to read it.

In other news, Amanda is convincing me that I probably could write Sendhil/Marat Safin without completely butchering the character of Safin. (I don't think she's right, but she's very good with the "You can't butcher it more than tennis fandom already does!" argument.) I also need to write Z/S in early-90s London, but I haven't been feeling very writy-writy lately. Meep.

ETA: So I finished season one of Psych and all I have left to watch is yesterday's episode, the season two finale. I can't decide what to watch next. I'm slightly tempted by Torchwood because half my flist seems to watch it, but 1) Captain Jack isn't my type, 2) Owen looks like a crossdressing woman, 3) I'm not that desperate for weekly doses of mankissing, and 4) I couldn't get into Who. Hm. Any suggestions? Nothing Stargate related, please and thank you, and I don't feel like John Simm. And nothing Japanese unless they've decided to do a PGSM sequel. (Geez, I'm picky!)

Erm, I think I'm getting depressed right now. I feel immobilized and can't seem to do the things I'm supposed to or even want to do, but still crave attention and validation (of what, my not doing anything?), and I think I've started leaving stupid comments to random people on LJ in the hopes of replies, because I'm feeling clingy and annoying like that. The next thing I usually do is pick a fight with some idiot on fanficrants just so someone is paying constant attention to me.

I know. Idiotic. I've gotten into more flamewars than I care to count while feeling like this. Man, I wish I were the kind of person who request their LJ flist to send them love and hugs and porn because they're feeling so bluuuue (that wasn't a thinly veiled request; please don't send me any of those things. Well, I never say no porn, but). If I have any pressing reason to go outside and socialize (which I don't today) what I usually do in this mood is sit with a crowd of people I'd never otherwise sit with and pretend I'm enjoying myself and that I belong there. YA RLY.

I guess some of the things I did this week is catching up with me now and I'm realizing the bothersome consequences. Sigh. On the bright side, I secured myself more hours at my job, so that's good. I want to travel come summer; I prefer a place like Russia but I've been to St. Petersburg already and Moscow seems depressing (apologies if any Moscowians are reading this).

I think both movies have lame messages and mostly lame characters (though Ryan and Sharpay = win), but honestly, liked half the soundtrack to the first movie, especially the ensemble songs. I was bummed when I ended up hating 90% of the songs on the second movie, but this version has completely redeemed so many of them for me with the better singing and the detail changes in arrangement. Gotta Go My Own Way? Beautiful. All For One? Hey, these people can actually sing! Shock!

P.S. My brother (who actually likes the movies, but then, he's ten) insisted I let him copy it onto his mp3 player, and he just informed me that HSM is better in Hindi. Hee!

In other news, I've been indulging my fascination with the paranormal in the style of Japanese folklore by re-reading Mushishi and Hyakkiyakôshô. Every single chapter in the first six volumes of Mushishi made me cry, and it's available in English through Del Ray.

Gabriel is the angel responsible for the Annunciation (i.e. he told Virgin Mary she was preggers), and I remembered this morning in slumber that I had this idea a few months ago that someone should write mpreg on that theme.

Think about it. Sylar gets, what should we say, an ability to make everything he says true, for example. And shows up at the doorstep of poor Mohinder, and the rest would be history.

No? ... No? Okay then.

I think future!Hiro is closer to Gabriel in the canon, though. In fact, when I drew this joke, I had originally planned to make it a series, and one of them would be "if Isaac had been born in the Middle Ages", and be a take on this painting (or altarpiece, actually) just with Hiro and Peter on the train. Because, you know, Peter is a girl and all. But I didn't because the joke would have been less obvious and probably not very funny to a lot of people, and besides, I can't draw or paint in that style to save my life. I also wanted to do a "if Isaac had been a Cro-Magnon man" version of the Hiro and the dinosaur painting, but again, wasn't sure if the joke was too elaborate.

I'm rambling. I think I'm feeling a bit burned out about Heroes fandom lately. Not even thoughts of Mylar brings me joy! I just want my canon back ... canon Mylar is the best, after all. Meep.

Look, a rec and a fanart!

That was a year ago and I had no idea until now mostly because I posted that fic with a sock. Haa haaaaa. Kinda awesome. If it weren't for the fact that even if it's a parody, some of the sentences in that fic make me wince and I just found a typo. Joy! Not that it matters much; the reviews are what makes it any good.

Jump SQ is an odd, odd magazine indeed. And me who thought the idea of a Toriyama Akira/Katsura Masakazu tag was weird.

A bit of a shame, because I'm sure both Watsuki Nobuhiro and Katsura Masakazu would have wet their pants if they got to work with Lee. Not that I think Takei would be blasé about it, but still; Watsuki and Katsura both do list American comics as a major influence on their art.
